Just a couple of years ago, Diane Keaton bought an historic adobe house located in Downtown Tucson of the Historic District neighborhood called “Barrio Viejo”,  which means “old neighborhood” in Spanish.  She is known to buy houses in prominent locations to remodel, and sell. She picked a “good one”, and I am so HAPPY she picked this house in this neighborhood. Now, this home can be yours! It’s for sale!
I am a native Tucsonan, the “Barrio Viejo” area has been one of my favorite downtown neighborhoods, rich with history that brought together many diverse cultures in Tucson’s early business district days.
It was a very sad day for me when many of the original adobe homes were bull dozed down to make room for urban renewal.
This house is located in Tucson, Arizona at 560 S Convent Avenue, in the Barrio District situated between Alameda, Broadway, Church and Main. The revitalization of downtown Tucson has once again brought modern amenities to an area that makes this neighborhood one of the most desirable places to live, work, and explore in Tucson.
Diane Keaton re-imagined this late-19th century Sonoran row house, four bedroom, 4,572 square foot built in the 1880’s , this house would make a perfect multi-generational living arrangement; free flowing floorpan with an attached one bedroom,  one bath guest house with full kitchen, laundry, a separate private courtyard, and two gated entrances on the property. Diane Keaton will no doubt leave her mark for preserving an historic home with her distinctive touch with handsome style of the Old Pueblo and practical design. This has been restored for a “New Century”.
I love this house because it has been restored with original plaster and preservation of the adobe architecture. Oh, how I love Diane Keaton for her keen taste and appreciation for architectural history by reclaiming the character of this Barrio Viejo house!
